Australia is known to have more than 40 species of funnel-web spiders that divide into two genera: Hadronyche and Atrax. Their sizes vary from medium to large and 1-5cm in length, and they vary in colour from brown to black.
The reverse design for the Funnel-Web Silver Coin features a large funnel-web spider, that displays its sprawled legs and hairy body. The inscriptions include “Australian Funnel-Web Spider”, “2015 1oz 999 silver”, and the Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark. The coin’s obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
