This commemorative circulation coin is designed by the experienced coinage designer John Bergdahl in collaboration with the UK Royal Mint in honour of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and personally approved by the monarch.
The obverse features the recently unveiled effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, created by renowned British sculptor Martin Jennings, encircled by “• CHARLES III • D • G • REX • F • D • 5 POUNDS • 2022” signifying ‘Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith.’ The reverse features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as a young woman mirrored by a portrait of Her Majesty in her later years. It includes her personal Royal Cypher, EIIR for ‘Elizabeth II Regina’ which encircles the coin along with the 1926 - 2022. The coin features an unfolding printed sleeve exploring Her Majesty’s remarkable reign and historic legacy.
